Beyond salvation
I am one of those cavemen who reject gnome-terminal's tabs and use screen(1), mostly because of the muscle memory. Today I went to do some work on RHEL 4, from console. After having to remind myself several times that Alt-F1 is to be used here, I gave up and started screen. Might as well throw extra mingetties out from Upstart (well, inittab in RHEL 4 case, but anyway). BTW, copy-paste works without gpm: disable that too... Oh, and scrollback now works after switching back and forth. My word, I should've done it years ago.
