Is this the GOLD that you promised, Ian?

In the process of looking into bug 648319, a regression that deprived me of Liferea since the upgrade to Fedora 14, I found that my 2GB laptop has not enough RAM to link webkitgtk even with 600MB swap. I eventually found a computer that has enough RAM, and saw this:

top - 18:13:00 up 43 min, 3 users, load average: 1.28, 0.59, 0.22
Tasks: 123 total, 2 running, 121 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie

Swap: 1212412k total, 760k used, 1211652k free, 1056240k cached

This is not quite what I hoped for, when I read the release announcement.

Granted, ld is an input-driven program. Blaming Ian for Apple crap may be wrong, but has anyone seen the old linker doing this?
